Sorry for commenting on the main storylines surrounding the team during a four-day stretch when the only Flames news was Johnny Gaudreau making a couple nice plays in a 3-on-3 tournament.

Don't worry Todd, I appreciate the blog!

Brody sucking is really hurting us. Not all his fault of course, but damn we need him down the stretch.

Also... why wouldn't anyone stick up for the best player when he gets run (excluding Gio in T.O.)?

A) the Flames are scared of fighting
B) his teammates don't like him
C) something else

If I was Johnny's teammate I would be defending him, unless of course Gaudreau is a d-head...

D) everyone is making this into a much bigger issue than need be

Johnny is a good player and like every good player will see the attention of opposition players go up ...if Johnny wasn't like 1/15 in the past few weeks on his grade A chances and maybe say 5/15 then no one would be making these suggestions that the flames need to protect Johnny more ...even with all the poop and abuse he's taking he is still getting a lot of good looks and is getting decent shots off as well ..just isn't putting them in

My advice is instead of everyone complaining that we aren't tough enough and it's affecting Johnny maybe we should be questioning our RW depth skill wise ...that is playing a much larger role with Johnnys lack of production imo

I don't disagree with any of this, but it's no secret to the other teams that if you come in and get to Johnny your chances of winning the game have gone up.

Interesting that at one time it was completely opposite with regards to Iginla.

Point is that no one should be able to get close enough to sneeze on Johnny.

Maybe it's time for an Iginla reunion??

Kinda of a match made in heaven. Someone could take a run at Johnny and than watch out Johnny is setting Iggy up for the goal!

Not a lot of options at RW that are available and ready to fight for there team like Iggy.

I would be in favour of trading for him.

Is it because he plays the position we desperately lack in depth?

Is it because he actually has size and isn’t afraid to drop his gloves for his team mates?

Is it because he is one year removed from scoring 22 goals and 25 assist?

Is it because he’s proved to be a game changer every playoff game he played in?

Is it because he’s at least Ten times better than Chaisson even at 40?

Would you rather him go to the oilers and increase their chances of winning the cup or watch him give it one last shot with the team that he put back on the map?

Who would your realistic Trade scenario for an RW be?

Might be because he has lost his scoring touch, is a combined -38 over his last season and a half, is taking too many penalties and has become too slow for the league.

Realistic targets, Vanek, Vrbata, Gionta , Gagner

Pie in the sky, Simmonds, Landeskog

Would be cool if we could make a run and have him as our 13th forward Lanny style.

But he's so bad now.

Vrbata or Hudler could be reasonably priced..

JVR if we're willing to pay up..

If Nashville was willing to deal, arvidsson could be a solid longterm solution. Obviously Elliott hasn't been great, but maybe his playoff performance last year is enough to entice them. Rinne has been better this year, but they won't win anything with him in net.

Jusse Saros looked pretty legit when they played us. Between that and Rinne's NMC not sure there's much there.

Ugh. Here's hoping Iggy wont report to the team if he's traded to the Oilers. I might just light my head on fire if that happens.

Chiasson actually has more goals assist and a better plus minus...

Iggy is done as an impact player ...he won't be leading anyone anywhere ...he will be traded to a team where he can be a bottom 6 role player ...not a huge need for the flames

I honestly would be surprised if we add a winger this season ...I believe that managenent is waiting til after the expansion draft to make any significant roster moves ...if I'm wrong I doubt it's a addition of someone who we would want to protect as well ...this expansion is really a pain in the ass

That's my worry is he goes to the Oilers and lights it up!
I'd be willing to bring him back if only to protect lil Johnny! It might get Chiasson off his line. There's not many players having career years in Colorado this year.

Chiasson is not a terrible player the only reason he has better stats is his line mates. When it comes to fighting he leads with his chin!

Simmonds has an amazing contract cap wise and would cost too much ...and is probably someone Philly wants to keep

Gagner is likely headed for playoffs in cbj ...doubtful he is moved

I'm assuming Vanek, landy, and vrbata will be moved but the prices might be too high ...also isn't Vanek a LW ? I'd rather look at Tatar or jurco

I have no desire to find a RW who can fight well ...I want a RW who doesn't kill every offensive zone entry and scores more
